Bundy and Cola

Bundaberg Rum & Cola was first created in the 1940's, when some local opportunists at the distillery noticed the US soldiers who were on rec leave in Australia, liked to mix their Rum with Cola. They had the bright idea of premixing Bundaberg Rum & Cola in a bottle. The modern day Bundaberg Rum & Cola in a can was first released in 1985.

Firmly entrenched in the Australian vernacular, the "Black Rat" is a the affectionate term for a can of Bundy & Cola. No-one quite knows when or where this started, however the name, which is a reference both to the colour of the can and the contents, stuck.

Now a favourite all around the country, the "Black Rat" is almost as iconic as the Bundaberg Rum brand itself.

From it's humble beginnings as a single variant, Bundy & Cola is now available in several varieties: the original (4.8%), Mid Strength (3.5%), Super Dry - for the Cleaner Crisp taste (3.5%) and Premium Strength (6.5%).
