The Bundaberg Distilling Company Launches The Inaugural Spirit Of Bundaberg Festival

The Bundaberg Distilling Company (BDC) is proud to announce the launch of the inaugural Spirit of Bundaberg Festival, on Saturday 18 October, in conjunction with the release of the Master Distillers’ Collection (MDC) Black Barrel.

The first bi-annual Spirit of Bundaberg Festival aims to bring together locals, rum lovers and travellers to celebrate the best of what Bundaberg has to offer. The team at the BDC will transform the distillery grounds into a festival arena full of fun and excitement for locals and visitors alike.

The Spirit of Bundaberg Festival welcomes everyone with free entry for all from 10am – 5pm. Guests will enjoy live entertainment from musicians such as headline acts Busby Marou and Ash Grunwald.

The huge array of activities available on the day will see festival goers learn the art of crafting a special ‘Bundaberg Bird’ cocktail through an interactive master class and immerse themselves in the art of sensory profiling.

New visitors to Bundaberg will be able to feast on an array of market stalls showcasing Bundaberg’s finest produce, as well as quench their curiosity at the Brewed and Crafted Bar.

Devoted rum lovers can purchase Master Distillers’ Collection Black Barrel bottles which will be released at the festival. Aged in American White Oak for 10 years and finished in small, heavily charred barrels, MDC Black Barrel is a rich smooth rum created with a deep red glow, reminiscent of burning cane fields. This premium rum is well balanced, full of character and has a finish of deep caramel and sweet raisins.

Senior Brand Manager for Bundaberg Rum, Duncan Littler said, “We’re excited to celebrate Bundaberg’s amazing produce, entertainment and liveliness at the Spirit of Bundaberg Festival. This is our way of paying back to the community, and we hope the festival will be a huge success for many years to come.

“To release our MDC Black Barrel here at the festival is an honour. The team at the BDC have crafted a truly delicious and unique drop that is worthy of the Bundaberg ‘Black’ title,” Littler added.

Each 700ml bottle of MDC Black Barrel (40% ABV) carries a unique number and is best enjoyed neat or on the rocks. The new release, to go on sale from the BDC’s Visitors Centre during the festival, retails for a recommend price of $140.00.
